Tons of activity continues to propel us toward completion! There’s a guy working in every room and it’s all coming together, so here are lots of pictures to prove it! After the almost catastrophic mistake with the granite edge detail yesterday, I am so relieved that now it’s only a good story.
Just a bit behind on the posting, but not behind on the project. I’ve been spending a lot of time on the job-site making sure that all of my design concepts and plans are being translated perfectly in real life- which means a bit less time in front of the screen. Some times that is… Continue reading Day 16 – 19
Most of this week has been painting and since the painters have 90% of everything covered in plastic and the colors we chose were very close to the originals… the pictures don’t seem super dramatic. The soffit in the kitchen gets a rich coat of chocolate brown to tie in the new cabinet color. The… Continue reading Day 13-15
In between designing kitchens and bathrooms and managing several projects, it’s nice to take a break to do something fun and sparkly. This is Presley’s room (if you can’t read the letters on the wall). Presley is a seven year old pageant girl that uses the window seat in her room as a stage. She… Continue reading Fun with Glitter!
Even though a lot gets done every day… sometimes the progress just doesn’t photograph well. Maybe it just looks the same to me because I see it everyday. The living room, dining room and office have now been finished with a wood-look porcelain tile that we installed with random staggered grout joints. They’ll grout in… Continue reading Day 11-12
The guys worked on Saturday this week so the painters that started today would have lots of rooms where the floor was finished. Usually, paint happens near the end of the job, but this one’s schedule had us doubling up on the trades. The hallway and laundry room got finished, which are not very exciting pictures, so… Continue reading Day 9-10 Flooring continued…
I usually start to lose interest when the only guys working are the tile guys, because it seems a bit monotonous and endless… this job is no different. Don’t get me wrong- I love to see the progress and am always amazed at how fast everyone works with a looming deadline over their head. But… Continue reading Day 7- More Installation
All the rough plumbing changes have been made and the walls are ready to be closed up for tile. This shower will get one stationary showerhead, one handheld (so important for easy clean up) and three body sprays. That equals lots of knobs and do-dads to poke out the wall, so exactly placement is crucial… Continue reading Day 6- Installation
So much work goes into the removal and clean up of the old that it is always so exciting once they start actually installing some of the new pretty stuff! The cabinet boxes had to get installed this day so that we could make granite templates on day 6. The granite fabricator is so busy… Continue reading Day 5- Installation
Did you know that as part of the floor preparation, not only do they remove every spec of “mud” with a spatula-like attachment for the Makita jack-hammer, but they also vacuum and then go back and sponge it off by hand. This concrete has never been so clean! They’ll be ready to start laying the tile (pictured… Continue reading Day 4- Demolition
